Windstorm insurance, like homeowners insurance, isn’t required in Florida by the state, but it’s often a requirement of mortgage lenders, particularly if you live in a coastal area. Windstorms that accompany hurricanes, along with tropical storms, strong winds and tornadoes, are all hazards for Florida homeowners, so gaining wind insurance is a good consideration to protect your property.
Generally, if you live in an area that is susceptible to high-wind storms and your home insurance policy does not automatically cover the damages they could cause, you will want to add this protection. Remember that if a flood occurs as a result of the storm, the windstorm coverage will generally not cover the damages. Instead, you’d need to look to your flood insurance policy.
Iten Insurance is here to help with any of your Hurricane & Windstorm Insurance needs.
